Anthony Hartman, a 7th grader in Winnetka, Ill., has created a ventilator out of Legos in an effort to help with ventilator shortages. I saw a bunch of universities making respirator units that were cheaper and more affordable. I wanted to make my own version with a twist, which was the Lego piece, said Hartman. He used materials available at his home and skills he learned while being the chief engineer for his middle school's LEGO League Robotics Team. In case you're wondering, the ventilator does work. It is designed to assist those who need a little help with breathing, to save the expensive equipment for those who truly can't breathe on their own.
