The newly formed American Connection Corps aims to expand rural broadband access across the U.S. by giving local communities support to act on digital inclusion challenges. The program, which will fund 50 local fellows in 12 states this year, grew from a partnership between Lead for America and the American Connection Project, a coalition of 150 organizations. The ACC will address capacity gaps between the desire for better access and the local coordination work needed to achieve it. Several ACC members will be part of a statewide Nebraska initiative that is funding 18 people to work locally on issues ranging from broadband policy advocacy to economic development.
