A dumping ground in southwest Chicago that was designated as a Superfund site in 2017 has become home to a promising number of wetland plant and animal species. Indian Ridge Marsh is gradually being restored. Through the collaborative efforts of a number of conservation groups, including Audubon Great Lakes, the Forest Preserves of Cook County and Friends of the Forest Preserve, the marsh may set an example for regenerative urban conservation, as new life springs forth in the midst of the industrial hum.
