Expanding wind energy could create 3.3 million jobs in the next five years, says the Global Wind Energy Council. The industry group forecasts that an extra 470 gigawatts of onshore and offshore capacity will be installed by 2025, although this estimate exceeds current US, UK and EU plans. The job projection includes direct roles in onshore and offshore wind, as well as jobs in such areas as installation, manufacturing, project planning and development, operation and maintenance and decommissioning.
