More than 65,000 low-income Georgia tenants no longer need to fear eviction by their 330 landlords, thanks to an Atlanta landlord who has always cared about her tenants. In April, Marjy Stagmeier's nonprofit, Star-C, launched a $50,000 appeal for pandemic eviction relief for her tenants. Support from local municipalities pushed the fund to more than $9 million, helping 3,000 families avoid eviction. Star-C also just received $4.1 million in 2021 relief aid. The fund works with landlords who offer affordable rents to low income families.
