On March 12 an anonymous donor visited a Dunkin Donuts drive-thru in Beavercreek, Ohio, and made a big “pay it forward” gesture. The donor initially wanted to buy a $1,000 gift card to pay for the rest of the day’s orders on behalf of future customers. The store didn’t sell gift cards that large; the donor was asked to come into the store to figure things out. Eventually, the donor decided to invest $4,000 in donuts for future customers. The gift cards lasted from Friday night until the following morning. General Manager, Samantha Owens said, “A lot of people were ecstatic and surprised, they were like, ‘Are you sure?’” “I was just so happy that he [the donor] chose this location, honestly, for something great like this to happen, because we love our regulars and we love our customers,” Owens said.
