Having been researching the science behind fighting tumors for two decades, Ozlem Tureci and her husband Ugur Sahin, co-founders of the company BioNTech, put their knowledge to use in battling the coronavirus. Collaborating with Pfizer and with the help of Chinese pharmaceutical company Fosun Pharma, BioNTech's search for a Covid vaccine, called "Project Lightspeed," was developed within 11 months. The speed at which the vaccine was made shows "how important cooperation and collaboration is internationally," Tureci says. The funds that BioNTech received from the vaccine allow the company to put more work into developing a vaccine to fight cancer tumors. The collaboration and speed at which the vaccine was promising.
