A colorful village of 40 tiny homes opened up in Los Angeles recently. The units live up to their names, each 64 square feet and able to accommodate one or two people. The project is a huge step forward in solving one of the city’s biggest crises, homelessness. Each tiny home has two beds, heat and air conditioning, windows, a small desk and electrical outlets. In the tiny home community, which is called Chandler Boulevard, residents have access to restrooms, showers, laundry, a dog run for their pets and access to services that help them with finding longer-term housing and job placement. The village was full within four days of opening; another tiny home community with 103 homes for housing 203 people will soon open nearby.
