Calvin and Tina Tyler have just pledged $20 million to Morgan State University, a Historically Black College in Maryland. Tyler attended the school from 1961 to 1963, when he was forced to drop out due to financial constraints. Tyler then got a job as a driver for United Parcel Service (UPS). He rose through the ranks, made his way into the executive suite and served on the board of directors before retiring. Tyler and his wife have endowed a scholarship at the university since 2002. He said, My wife and I are keenly aware of the effect that the pandemic has had on young people trying to get an education [and] we have the resources to help a lot of peopleWe just want to help as many young people as we can [to] get an education.
