As utility crews raced on Wednesday to restore power to nearly 3.4 million customers in Texas, Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale opened up his store as a shelter to 300 people who lost power in their homes. The store has a generator that can power the property for several days, and those sheltering found themselves sleeping on one of the store's $3,000 couches or $5,000 beds. McIngvale said he'd keep his store open as a shelter for as long as he could, if necessary.
