In Britain, a study showing the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine can reduce the spread of coronavirus is being applauded by Health Secretary Matt Hancock. "Vaccines are the way out of this pandemic," he told BBC News. As of February 5, 2021, over 10 million people have received the first Covid shot in the UK. The study suggests the initial shot protects not only those who are vaccinated, it protects others indirectly, by slowing transmission of the virus. Hancock tweeted that the study is "really encouraging" and "absolutely superb".
