Yes, you read that right. Goat Zooms are a thing, an insanely successful thing. Dot McCarthy, owner of Cronkshaw Fold Farm, in Lancashire, UK, came up with the idea to hire out her goats to surprise people and brighten their virtual meetings. She put the service on her website, “to give people a laugh” and when she woke up the next morning, she had 200 requests for the Goat Zoom service. That was in April 2020. Since then her goats have appeared in virtual meetings all over the world, including in the US, Russia, China, and Australia. The cost is £5, although some people donate far more. She has made £50,000 (about $68,000), which has allowed her to keep her two employees working full-time. She prefers the Goat Zoom calls to selling manure, which she has also taken to doing to raise revenue. “It’s way easier and more fun,” said McCarthy.
