When Cemal Senturk, who lives in northeastern Turkey, was taken to the hospital, his dog came along for an unsanctioned visit. The dog, Boncuk, escaped from Senturk's apartment, which is nearby, and held vigil outside the hospital. Hospital employees notified the family, and they retrieved the dog. Each day, the same scene repeated itself; Boncuk escaped the apartment and visited the hospital. The dog enchanted hospital workers, who cared for her and fed her during her times there. Boncuk has been Senturk's companion for nine years; he missed her while he was in the hospital and talked to her through the window each day.
