More than 20,000 members of the National Guard were stationed at the U.S. Capitol to provide security for the nation's presidential inauguration on January 20. Among them is Sgt. Jacob Kohut, known to his students in Fairfax County, Va., as Dr. Kohut. Before his 12-hour Guard shift began, Kohut opened his laptop and spent a few hours each day with the elementary and middle school students in his music classes. Diane Leipzig, principal of Canterbury Woods Elementary School, said of Kohut, "He absolutely loves his students and would do anything for them. I think he is an excellent example. He teaches our kids the importance of practice, determination and resilience."
