Outside Silicon Valley in February 2020, a playfully mannered coyote was seen on camera indicating to his buddy, a badger to "hurry up, let's go," as they used a culvert to cross below a busy highway together. The adorable video, caught on one of the Peninsula Open Space Trust's wildlife cameras, immediately went viral. POST has been studying how animals travel at night to inform future urban planning designs. Although it was the first time such a pairing was caught on film in California's Bay Area, this particular dynamic duo of species is not surprising. "Scientific studies and Native American records tell us that coyotes and badgers have been known to hunt together. When they work together, they can team up to catch their next meal," POST reports on its website.
