On the morning of Christmas Eve, Elisha Tennant of Edmonton, Alberta, found an envelope on her front steps that was marked Secret Santa. Inside the envelope was a poem and a $250 Walmart gift card. The poem read in part, the whole world ain't as dark as it sometimes seems / there's light if you look for it, if you know what I mean / the next six months every day, gets lighter and longer / still standing after twenty twenty, you'll emerge stronger / for someone in need, you'll be their first responder / you're a fighter, you are tested, you will conquer. About 400 homes in Edmonton received similar gifts. The gift giver, who asked to remain anonymous, said, I hope the gifts gave people a sense that the world is good and there is a brighter future not far ahead.
