Performing artist Beyoncé announced that she will be giving a total of $500,000 in grants for those facing foreclosures and evictions as moratoriums are due to end at the close the year. Starting Jan. 7, 2021, people can apply for $5,000 grants, and 100 grantees will be selected by the end of the month. An analysis of U.S. Census data by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities estimates that a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/23/success/what-renters-need-eviction-moratorium-fe-series/index.html">9.2 million renters are behind on rent, due to lost income during the pandemic. This is not Beyoncé's first attempt to give back to communities during the pandemic. Last April, the singer donated $6 million to coronavirus relief and, in May, she set up mobile Covid-19 testing sites with her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, in Houston.
