"My first thought was how much time do I have?" remarks a Los Angeles nurse who works with fellow nurse Lorie Carafelli-Fleming. When Lorie was diagnosed with cancer, her coworkers rallied around her in support, donating their personal time off so she could recover without missing pay. Blown away by the outpouring of love from Lorie's coworkers also prompted the company she works for, Impact Health Care, to further their assistance. "[They] made some special arrangements for her, for extra time, some different insurance coverage," said co-worker Molly Buck. Lorie hopes to be back at work in six to eight months. "They really truly are a blessing for me," Lorie said of her colleagues.
