After hearing from his nurse friends who were struggling, UK Cartoonist Charlie Mackesy was motivated to use his cartoons to uplift the frontline workers through the pandemic. In his drawings, he cheers on nurses, hospital cleaners, trash collectors, delivery people, shopkeepers and shelf stockers. He was heartened to hear some hospitals are printing out his drawings and hanging them up where the nurses drink tea and feel tired and struggle. His drawings also help average citizens hold onto hope and gain a sense of perspective. I think we should, at Christmas, just raise a glass to how we've weathered it and just don't give up and remember that this storm ends, and it will end, said Mackesy.
