Guy Stanley Philoche is a New York painter known for his lively abstract paintings. Since March 2020, he has spent $65,000 purchasing art to help artists who have lost their means of support due to the pandemic. He sought out artists worldwide and has bought more than 150 works. Once a struggling artist himself, Philoche feels he owes it to his community of fellow creatives. "Art saved my life. I owe a debt I could never repay, but the only way to really repay it is by buying other art from someone who hasn't gotten a big break yet. And that's what I'm going to keep doing," he told CNN.
