In Illinois, Emily Bugg and Billy Lewis were one of many couples who canceled their original wedding plans due to the pandemic. But a silver lining from the change of plans was that they were able to use their $5,000 nonrefundable deposit to purchase 200 Thanksgiving dinners for a vulnerable population that the nonprofit Threshold serves and where Bugg, 33, works. The couple was married on October 1st in Chicago's City Hall. "In the grand scheme of things, canceling a big wedding isn't the worst thing that could happen," Bugg told Good Morning America. "We're happy to be married, and we're so happy that we could help Threshold's clients feel the connection of a Thanksgiving meal as a result of the wedding cancellation."
