Alyna Hernandez, a 6th grader in Merced, Calif., was honored as a hero by her school earlier this week. She rescued her nephew from a burning car in September. While on a Zoom call with her teacher, she mentioned her hands hurt, and the story of her bravery became known. "We are proud to honor you as an extraordinary Weaver Wildcat hero on the 16th day of November. Congratulations Alyna," an administrator at Weaver Middle School said, as he handed her a certificate. Her tribute was captured on video by photojournalist Alex Ruiz for ABC30.
