The Covid-19 pandemic has triggered a surge of enrollments in public health programs in the US. Applications are up 20-75% at various universities. Some schools extended their application deadlines and accepted much larger incoming classes than they have in recent years. Patricia Pittman, professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, said, “I feel like, before the coronavirus, a lot of people didn’t really pay attention to public health. Especially now, when something like a pandemic is happening, public health people are just on the forefront of everything.”
