As the result of many things, including Covid-19, ESPN recently laid off around 300 employees, or 10% of its workforce. After trying various ways to weather the storm, it was clear that the cost-reduction effort that would result in lost jobs was inevitable. Chris Cote, long-time producer of the Dan Le Batard Show was one of the employees let go without consulting Le Batard. After five days of seeking ways around this, Le Batard hired Cote back as his personal assistant, with a pay raise, funding the hire out of his own pocket.
