Robert Carter of Cincinnati adopted five siblings who were separated in different foster homes. The children are ages 4-10. Carter was determined to keep these children together, given his own experience of being separated from his siblings when he went into foster care. Carter said, The noise went up 13 or 14 notches and I'd rather have that noise knowing they're happy and happy together. I wasn't with my siblings. When my youngest brother was 2, I didn't see him again until he was 16.
