Anxiety and depression are associated with intolerance of uncertainty, which made processing the speculative unknowns surrounding the election more difficult to process. In an effort to find closure, many people binge-watched TV and followed the flood of information on social media in search of definitive outcomes. So how do we create certainty in an uncertain world? Through mindfulness and daily routines that include adequate sleep, a healthy diet and regular exercise. According to a psychologist, "The routines are broken down, and the things that helped our society to have predictability have broken down, so I encourage folks to make things as routine as possible." When asked if they wanted to add anything else, they told Rebecca Jennings in Vox, "Turn off the TV."
