When Stacy Mason, a Virginia hospital nurse, learned that her co-workers were unable to find essential items like sanitary wipes and diapers, she created a "team cupboard." This quickly spread across the hospital and began to include nonperishable food items and school supplies with donations coming from co-workers and the community. The hospital had created three separate pick-up and drop-off locations where people can take what they need and leave what they can spare. Mason has received several honors and awards for her efforts and humbly she appreciates them while understanding it is her honor to help others. She plans to continue the effort long after the Covid-19 pandemic has passed.
