Europe's car manufacturers are racing to reduce CO2 emissions as tighter restrictions are set to be imposed in 2021. Transport & Environment, a green policy group, projects that 1 in 10 new cars sold in Europe will be electric or plug-in hybrid, tripling the number that manufacturers sold last year. "Electric car sales are booming, thanks to EU emissions standards," Clean Vehicle Director Julia Poliscanova told Ars Technica. "Next year, one in every seven cars sold in Europe will be plug-in," she said.
