Tim Gjoraas, a 45-year-old father of three, was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer last year. Gjoraas taught anatomy and physiology at a high school in Sioux Falls, S.D., for 22 years and then retired in July to spend time with his family. In the midst of battling his disease, he and his wife had planned to paint their house, but after he finished chemotherapy, his doctors learned his cancer had spread and the home improvements were put on hold. Fellow teachers stepped up to get the paint job done, saying they didn't want Gjoraas's wife to worry about the house once her husband was gone. Gjoraas said, This wasn't the first time my teacher friends got together to do something. I would definitely like to thank everybody for that love.
