In an attempt to fight poverty and provide dignity for all humans, Geneva, Switzerland, has just passed the presumed highest minimum wage in the world -- the equivalent of $25 USD per hour.The increase will impact about 6% of its citizens, if enacted. For context, Geneva is the world's 10th most expensive city to live in. The direct democracy system calls for "popular initiative" votes to be cast four times per year. The minimum wage increase has been on the ballot a few times over the last years but finally passed with 60% support, likely related to the impact of Covid-19 on frontline workers.
