Humans could be consuming enough plastic to make a credit card every week through their food and water. This happens through microplastics, which shed from our clothes and tires and have been entering the world’s oceans for many years now. But rescue is at hand, in the form of devices that collect fibers from tires to liquids that remove microplastics from water, and even a massive ocean cleanup machine. Innovators are coming up with newer ways to tackle the issue and make the world a little less plastic-y.
