Scientists in Nigeria have developed a Covid-19 diagnostic test that is nearly half the price of today's most commonly used PCR tests and produces results in just 40 minutes. Additionally, the mobile machine used to analyze the sample can be operated by low-skilled operators with minimal training. Not wanting to rely on imported tests, they are hopeful to be able to mass produce this test as soon as it's validated by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control and the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
