There is a movement in America to build desks for children who are learning virtually from home. Across the country, parents and teachers, mothers and fathers are helping. In Columbus, Oh., a nonprofit called Impact Community Action is building desks, and local artists are painting them for children. In Gaithersburg, Md., Desks by Dad is producing the study furniture for kids. In Santa Fe, N.M., David Gunter started The Community Desk project and then learned how to build desks by watching YouTube videos. I get to deal directly with the people receiving it, and it feels great, he said.
