Fourth-grade teacher Lindsey Earle, with help from her family, built an outdoor classroom for her students in Pewaukee, Wisc. “As we were discussing plans for returning, I proposed an idea that we build our own classroom,” Earle said. “Because what we know about Coronavirus is, it spreads less effectively outdoors.” Earle and her school's administration talked with health and safety experts as they devised this plan. Desks are socially distanced based on CDC guidelines, and children must wear masks when engaging in one-on-one interaction or leaving their seats. Now, every class at the school is currently building an outdoor learning space.
