Mayana Lifchitz and her father, Yosef, started Books 4 Cause in 2009 after seeing textbooks thrown away after one year of use. Since then, hundreds of thousands of books have been donated to the cause, which now fills 110 libraries in Africa. When the coronavirus hit the US, they knew the need would grow here too. So, they opened a free bookstore in Avondale, Ill., that has 1,000 books on the shelves. The two are committed to making sure No book goes to waste.
