Louis Mapp, who is retired from business but not from life, is known as the NICU Grandpa. Mapp volunteers in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in his hometown of Fairhope, Ala., every Tuesday. His self-appointed duties include making coffee for the nurses and doctors because they got more important things to do than making coffee, and that's what I'm here for. After coffee duty, he makes the rounds to feed, burp and cuddle the babies. He's been on baby soothing duty for years, starting with his own grandchildren. Mapp believes that when the babies are held close, they can feel they are loved, and that's one reason why they stop crying.
