A California man who almost lost his home in the recent Apple Fire has been reunited with his Australian cattle dog, Buck, who he thought had died in the flames. Greg Skeens, the home and dog owner said, It was one big orange flame all the way around the house and I thought, I thought we were all going to die. Fortunately, firefighters were in the area and put out the fire. Then, a wave of wild animals from the hills surrounding Skeens's property descended on the house. Buck, being either courageous or foolhardy, took off chasing a coyote three times his size and didn't return. Again, fortunately for Skeens, firefighters found the dog further out in the fire line, and eventually the very happy dog was reunited with his very happy owner.
