Twelve-year-old nonprofit group Animals Lebanon has been working tirelessly since the explosion in Beirut on August 4 to reunite animals with their owners. The explosion reportedly killed at least 204 people, injured more than 6,000 and left an estimated 300,000 homeless. While there are no figures for how many pets were affected, people have been posting on social media looking for their lost pets. Animals Lebanon is the main animal welfare program in the country and has been sending out teams of two looking for lost or injured animals, providing medical services to these animals and reconnecting them with their owners. Amidst the pandemic and other crises, and now dealing with the aftermath of this explosion, the organization is doing its part to bring 4-legged comfort back into the lives of pet owners.
