Two large-hearted cops in Chennai have done their bit to erase the public perception of the police force as corrupt figures of authority. Head constable P Senthil Kumar, arranged Rs 5 lakh for the open-heart surgery of his neighbour's little daughter, Kavishka, in a private hospital with the help of his inspector, M. Thangaraj. Upon learning that his neighbour, Karthik, had postponed the surgery of his daughter due to lack of funds, Senthil Kumar turned to his colleagues and neighbours for help. Together with Rs 1.25 lakhs from a government scheme, they were able to put together the required amount for the surgery which lasted 7 hours. During the past month all the personnel at the police station have visited the family, offering help, and hope, to the family. The pandemic has indeed overturned many perceptions and stereotypes in the past few months.
