While the entire country is going through an unprecedented pandemic crisis, the people most impacted by both the virus and the lockdown are the elderly. Two young changemakers in Chandigarh are working out innovative ways to serve the needs of the elderly through their organization, Grey Shades. More than 500 volunteers swung into action as soon as the lockdown was announced, delivering food and medicines. A professional counselling helpline has also been fielding hundreds of calls. Grey Shades has been working from 2016, finding ways in which their beneficiaries can live productive lives. Their flagship Fellowship programme is a six-month long journey in active aging, helping senior citizens find perspective and lead productive, dignified lives.
