With $0 left, Wes Moberly said he was out of options to provide for his family. When the landlord came by, he feared the worst, but what happened next was an unexpected gift. Ten weeks ago, the Ohio father was laid off from his information technology job. He hasn't had a paycheck since. Moberly and his fiance used up their savings to provide for their 5-year-old twins. "They always pay their rent on time. They paid in May, and then June came and then July and I had not heard from them," said their landlord, Ellery Lewis. Instead of an eviction notice, Lewis decided to help. "He has two daughters. I happen to have two daughters as well, so I put myself in his shoes, and if I was in his shoes, I would want someone to do the same for me." After learning the family were down to $0, Lewis gave him $100 from his pocket. Many of Lewis' tenants cannot make rent now, and he is working out payment plans with each family until they get back on their feet.
