Four California high school students are helping children color their way through the coronavirus pandemic. Lauryn Hong, Ella Matlock, Sofia Migliazza and Erin Rogers teamed up on an economics class project at the end of their freshman year at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. The 15-year-olds developed a business plan to publish a coronavirus-themed coloring book for children which would raise money for charity. But instead of stopping at the plan, they implemented it. Their Be The Change Coloring Co. published the "Covid Coloring Book." Teacher Jeff Montooth noted, "This year, due to the lockdowns and quarantine, I decided to broaden the scope of the project to include charity businesses as well. I wanted to make the project as relevant as possible and allow kids the opportunity to create something real and give back to their community.... The coloring book gives kids the information without totally overloading them," said Matlock. The book costs $5, and 40% is donated to charity.
