As Trader Joe's plans to change the names and packaging of a number of its ethnic food brands, a petition urging the grocer to remove "racist packaging" has grown. Last week Trader Joe's told USA Today that it "made the decision several years ago to use only the Trader Joe's name on our product moving forward." Some ethnic brand names have already been changed. Others that use variations of "Joe," like Trader Ming's for Japanese food products, and Trader Giotto's for Italian cuisines, are still going through the process.
