Ken and Vicki Monize own a diner in Alameda, California -- Ole's Waffle Shop -- which was founded in 1927 and purchased by Vicki's parents in 1972. Vicki has been working in the waffle shop since she was 17. Employees here feel like family, and the Monizes didn't think twice when they had to give away their dream of retiring next year when Coronavirus hit. They sold their dream retirement home property to be able to keep all of their 41 employees on payroll during the pandemic. "Our staff is more important than a retirement home," said Ken. "They're like family."
