Tomas Kapler, an online business consultant based in Prague, wanted to address the need for ventilators to help Covid-19 patients. Within five days, Kapler and a team of 30 Czech volunteers from other IT companies and the Czech Technical University developed an inexpensive ventilator that was reliable and easy to operate and manufacture. The ventilator has been approved for emergency use throughout the European Union and is awaiting approval for emergency use in the United States, Brazil, Russia and other countries. Despite quitting his job and working without pay to focus on creating the ventilator, Kapler insists that helping others has been a positive experience for him.
