On July 4th, 12-year-old Kolton Conrad and his father and brother went kayaking for a simple "guys' day out." At one stop on the beach, the glint of metal caught Kolton's eye. He and his mother later verified the object as an authentic military dog tag and turned to social media to trace the tag's name to its owner. They were quickly connected to Kimberly Greenlee, sister to Steven Rhonemus, who was that owner. Rhonemus passed away 46 years ago, and many pictures and memories of him had been lost in a fire. Kolton's lucky find forged a connection between Rhonemus and his daughter, whom he never got the chance to meet.
