Thirteen-year-old Tony had been in the foster care system since the age of 2, and at the age of 4 was adopted by a couple in Oklahoma. This was not the fairy tale ending for Tony, thought. He was abandoned by his adopted family at age 11, when they left him at a hospital and never returned. Enter Peter Mutabazi, who grew up in Uganda. He said he ran away from his abusive home at the age of 10 and found a parent figure who guided him through school. Now a US citizen, Mutabazi had fostered 12 children prior to fostering Tony. When Peter learned about Tony's history of abandonment, he decided to adopt him because of his direct experience in Uganda and wanting to replicate the help he received. Now, father and son are waiting to welcome a foster child into their loving home.
