In non-pandemic years, colleges and universities looked at a prospective student's list of extracurriculars and grades to decide whether or not to admit the student into their institution. The pandemic has created an unprecedented learning experience for this year's applicants, though, and colleges are responding by promising to judge applicants by a different set of standards, such as family contribution and self-care.
