The Nigerian proverb paraphrased as "history is written by the winners" holds true for this time in history as well. How we think about this pandemic and what we do with it is greatly influenced by how we talk about it. We all ask questions such as, "What happened?", "What now?" and "What next?" Whoever answers them -- in other words, whoever controls the narratives of past, present and future -- will determine what issues and populations get attention and whether our world will be improved after the pandemic.
