Ntension, a company in Hermon, Maine, used to create large tension fabric structures for corporate trade show exhibits, museums and sports teams. But when the pandemic hit and those venues shut down, they had to find another way to keep their company afloat. When Northern Light Health was looking for a source for PPEs, Ntension (which the company had worked with before) seemed like a great fit. The two companies worked with the University of Maine's Advanced Manufacturing Center and the Manufacturers Association of Maine to create masks that employees who weren't working directly with Covid-19 patients could use. Since then, Ntension has continued to increase their mask and face shield production and is on track to become the largest manufacturer of PPE in New England. Besides their contract with Northern Light Health Systems, NTension has also donated masks to local fire departments.
